Some Wildlife in 2007
| A small Buff-Striped Keelback snake found wounded on a road high up in tea estate country near Mahatenna. This one was probably about 40cm long. | A baby Mugger freshwater crocodile on the Bentota River. It was kept in a box and provided a tourist based livelihood for its canoe borne owner. |

| Two Star Tortoises in the Turtle project. Click here for more on turtles. | A Water Monitor basking on a branch in a mangrove swamp beside the Bentota River. See Kandy_lake_wildlife.htm for another example. |
| A Spotted Dove. We see many birds including colourful kingfishers and parakeets. Our pocket guide to the birds of Sri Lanka is very helpful but our camera isn't quite up to the task of populating our web-site with beautiful pictures of nervous birds. | A Land Monitor scavenging on a rubbish tip. Smaller than the water Monitor it is nevertheless something to be a little careful with. |
