TCL's very own Olympic Games
| Every year TCL holds its very own version of the olympic games with nations being replaced by Houses named after previous Principals. It is taken very seriously and fine details of rules are discussed most earnestly. Here we see James partnered by Ridgeway on their way to victory in the Men's Doubles Table Tennis. The brand new table and bats were bought with money given by St. Alphage's Anglican Church in Whitstable, Kent, UK. | The highlight of the Games was the "marathon", a 5 kilometre road race along the main Kandy / Colombo road at 6:30am. Here we see Rosemary and other runners at the starting post, the Bentota bakery. Rosemary, the oldest competitor, was the first woman across the line at college and even beat one man. She was disappointed to learn that the distance was actually only 2.5km. It is a kindness not to provide photographs after the race. After ferrying people to the start line, James went back to bed. |

Badminton is very popular in Sri Lanka and the two hours before dusk, when temperatures are falling slightly, are perfectly suited to the game. Here we see a Women's Doubles match underway. The couple the other side of the net are the couple Rosemary and her partner defeated in the Final. |
