James at work

The most time consuming part of James' work is now the clean water system.  TCL has three wells as well as a mains water inlet.  Something is always going wrong, either a pipe is broken (e.g. by the college farmer digging a hole to bury calf after-birth) or blocked (e.g. by a dead 6ft snake) or a tank is mysteriously overflowing.  This picture shows James and his colleague Christy examining the perfectly adequate ball valve. James' colleagues are very resourceful and are all proficient at plumbing.  The farmer mended the pipe perfectly well and Christy solved the mystery of the overflowing tank.  However, nothing has ever been written down so James has produced a description of the system and mapped it out.  We also now have a small stock of plumbing parts and the use of James' toolbox.

Here is James at his desk.  There are four PCs elsewhere in the office but they are not networked, unlike the student PCs in the library block.  The student network (7 PCs) is now stable and James has started a simple intranet to encourage computer use and to provide help.
