Kandyan Dancing - 2001 (1)

One evening the TCL Principal, Rev'd. Dr. Jebanesan, took us to see some Kandyan dancing at a hotel in Kandy.  A troupe of dancers performed for an hour and a half to a small audience of tourists.  The dances were all highly abbreviated for the western attention span but they were very colourful, fast and exciting. The music is provided by a variety of drums and pipes.  A conch shell is blown to mark the start of the event.
Plate spinning must have been invented in Kandy!
