A Short  Private Visit to England by Rosemary - May 17th  to June 4th 2009

In May Rosemary returned to England  for a  short private visit.  Rosemary was very pleased to be able to visit Lottie Moss in Birmingham where she is studying medicine at Birmingham University on Tuesday May 19th 2009.  Lottie has always wanted to be a doctor and we were very thrilled when she got a place at  Birmingham University, not least because Rosemary studied there herself (1987-90)   and calls Birmingham "God's own city!" James also studied there (2004-5).  Lottie is pictured here with her mother, Jennie, Rosemary's closest  friend from her own university days.

It is very strange for Rosemary and Jennie to realise that by this stage in their University days, they had already met each other and become firm friends - a friendship that has now lasted 34 years.

Of course, Rosemary also saw all her family and was pleased to spend time with her six nieces and her nephew.  Here they all are obediently lined up for an official self-timer photograph.  Back row, left to right: Zoë, Freya, Esme, Gracie.  Front row, left to right: Tom, Molly, Rosemary (Auntie) and Yasmin.

Two students from TCL, Indradevi and Harshana were also visiting England as guests of the Parish of Goudhurst Sri Lanka Church Association.  They were visiting to experience something of life in the Anglican church there.  They had a busy time and represented both TCL and the Sri Lankan church extremely well. They also spent some time at Queen's  College Birmingham and went to an International Conference on Christian/Islam relationships in the world today. They also met Rosemary in London - a complete surprise because we had never told them that Rosemary would be in the country  at the same time.  Here Indradevi and Harshana pose outside St. Paul's Cathedral with Sue Crookall and John McCaig, officers of the Association.  They had been instrumental in setting up the visit.  It was Sue and Rosemary who arranged the surprise meeting in the Cathedral.

The main reason for the visit was to see Rosemary's parents, George and Marjorie.  Marjorie had been very ill in January / February so Rosemary was very pleased to find her in better health and good spirits.  This picture was taken on Ashridge in the Chiltern Hills.
