Some Other Visits May 2010


We visited the ancient Buddhist Temple of Ridigama near Kurunagala which is famous for incorporating some old Dutch tiles which depict Biblical scenes. Here the animals file into the ark. Wed May 5th 2010	Nearby in the same temple is this attractive reclining Buddha. from Thailand

In Trincomalee we visited the our friend the Methodist Superintendent Minister, Rev. Jothini in her massive manse. Here she is with her cousin (right) who keeps house. Saturday May 8th 2010	On the way back from Trincomalee along the much improved road we noticed a herd of wild elephants. We watched them for twenty minutes or so, our last such encounter. Monday May 10th 2010

Bible Rock, a large rock outcrop visible from the main Kandy - Colombo Road at Kaduganawa, challenges us every time we drive by. Finally we got round to climbing it at Wesak. (May 28th 2010).	The weather was perfect for walking - not hot and hardly wet at all. Here Rosemary poses at the summit while rain clouds pass another way.

We also walked up the much less accessible and higher, Hunasgiriya in the Knuckles Range. We needed a guide to show us the way. Again the weather was perfect for walking. (May 16th 2010)
