The diesel trains come from Japan, Germany and Canada. Here is the train at our destination, Haputale. Next day the train was four hours late so we got the bus instead - four different ones go us back home.
A Train Journey into the Hills Sunday May 30th 2010

| Ever since we have been in the country we have wanted to take the train into the hills from Kandy. Finally we got round to doing this on 30th May 2010. Having got to Kandy station at 5am ten days before the train departed, James was able to guarantee the best seats on the train, no.s 21 & 22 on the observation car. | The scenery was beautiful with lots of tidy tea estates and distant peaks. Here is the station at Nanu Oya. |
