| This year the Christmas Cultural programme was performed firstly in Kandy's new shopping mall known as "Kandy City Centre" and then in the new auditorium at TCL. There was a dance, a drama and lots of Christmas songs in Sinhala and Tamil. This photo shows the choir in the auditorium. (12/12/09) |
The annual Christmas party took place as usual on the last night of term.
Here is a scene from the Sunday School's nativity play performed in English.
Not shown is the grumpy innkeeper. Friday night, December 18th 2009

This year the Christmas Party was graced by the singing of a Kandy based choir called Adagio. They sang beautifully. - probably the best singing we have heard in Sri Lanka - and they all were enjoying it so much too. We didn't want them to stop. Friday night December 18th 2009 |
Later on the Carol singers appeared at our front door earlier than in previous years - at 1:30am, in fact. Our neighbours offered coffee and we offered ginger beer and cheese biscuits. Students left the campus the next day, mostly going to do Field Work in different parts of the island for Christmas and the New Year. They return on January 2nd. On Christmas Eve we have usually hosted the Jaffna single students who remained at TCL over the holiday but this year, because the A9 road is open to them, they can all get back to their families. |
