Around the College during the Second Term of the Academic Year 2008/2009

The college has a very small dairy farm and a dedicated dairy worker Ramu who spends his time cutting grass, milking and distributing the milk.  The cows are very much part of the community so there was much concern when one of them fell on the steep bank near the main road where it was grazing.  With great difficulty the poor animal was moved to a garage where a special frame was erected.  A splint was applied and later the leg was plastered.  Unfortunately, the cow died, strangled by the rope around its neck. The college was honoured by a visit of the General Secretary on Tuesday 21st October 2008 of the World Council of Churches, the Reverend Doctor Samuel Kobia (left).  The Reverend Dr. Shanta Premawardhana, also of WCC,  and a former student of TCL, was also present.  They are seen here with Reverend Keerthi Fernando, the Acting Principal, after a talk given to the students.
There is an annual staff seminar together with the Roman Catholic National Seminary at nearby Ampitiya.  Friday November 21st 2008.  We both enjoy visiting the seminary where everything is taught in English. Earlier in the year Ampitya Staff came to TCL. In Sri Lanka a child's first birthday is a big event.  Here Rosemary helps celebrate little Georgia Lauren's first birthday together with Vinoth, a final year student, and Kohila and young Meshak George, aged 4.
