Around TCL at the beginning of the 2007/08 Academic Year

| The largest ever intake ("batch") of students line up for a team photograph. The women's hostel is now completely full and there are only one or two rooms free in the men's hostel. This picture was taken during the orientation period in April. At the beginning of the new academic year (June 18th to 29th) all students attended a series of seminars entitled "Conflict Transformation and Peace Building" given by Rev'd Johnston McMaster of Irish School of Ecumenics, Belfast campus, part of Trinity College, Dublin. The seminar was very well received by the students and staff. | Work on the refurbishment of the classroom block and men's hostel began in March and is nearing completion (in July). This picture shows the beautiful new tiles that replace the old, crumbling cement floor. Visitors have often commented on the gloomy rooms - but no longer - for the entire building has been rewired and new lighting has been installed. |

| The tiles on the classroom block have been completely replaced and the timber repaired and treated against termite infestation. The work has been funded by the local Anglican dioceses, the Methodist Church, the Baptist Sangamaya and the Presbyterian Church together with foreign donors, Evangelisches Missionswerk of Germany, the Methodist Church UK and the Anglican Church of Canada. | Here we see Rosemary teaching the fourth year students (final year)in one of the bright new classrooms. No longer dusty old blackboards, but lovely new whiteboards! There are 13 students in this "batch". On the right in the blue shirt is Shelton (Student Leader for 2007/8) and the smiling face is of Arasilarajah. |

| Bob a Job isn't dead in Sri Lanka. These cub scouts were entrusted with the task of weeding our miniscule garden. Shortly afterwards a hibiscus flowered for the first time - not the big tropical type but the temperate type found in UK - so the cubs must have had green fingers as well as green caps. | The start of the college's academic year was marked by a service at the Chapel at the University of Peradeniya, set on a wooded hill. |
