Some   Students (past and present) visited in our last weeks at TCL (1 of 2)

In Jaffna we visited Devadasan and his wife Priya.  They left TCL in 2009.  Devadasan, a Methodist, ministers in Vannarponnai.  The manse has been demolished for re-building, its doors and frames being put aside to be included in the new one once funds have been found.  He and Priya are living in the church hall.  (16th April 2010) Here is Prinsan beside the church he is building almost single-handedly in Kilinochchi.  He lives in the vestry which is at the rear of the church.  Kilinochchi was the administrative centre of the old LTTE domain and suffered considerably.  Earlier on the in war years Prinsan's congregation in a more rural area took off their church roof and buried it to prevent it from being destroyed by bombing and shelling.  Prinsan left TCL in 2008.  (12th April 2010)

Luxsan (right) left TCL in 2009.  He was sponsored by the Church of South India and was being groomed to take over an Ashram just outside Jaffna city.  The Ashram is a small religious community centred around lives of celibacy and service.  This picture also shows a current student, Jegathas, who kindly took showed us around. (15th April 2010). Jegathas is about to enter his 3rd year at TCL.

Prabhar  also left TCL in 2009.  An Anglican in the large Diocese of Colombo, he now serves in Kilinochchi.  His church was built in 1955 and is a unique indigenized design owing much to Hindu Temple architecture.  The church hall has been utterly flattened by the recent war although his manse was relatively unscathed.  We met him on our journey home from Jaffna when we were accompanied by our friend Sarah, the former college assistant librarian. (17th April 2010)

Anuruddha is a musically gifted former student now serving in the Anglican Diocese of Kurunegala.  He has written the web-site for the Diocese.  Here he is with Sandamali on his wedding day (22nd April 2010) at Trinity College Chapel.  His best man was ...

...Sanath who also dressed up in the costume of a Kandyan King for his wedding to Ruth at Kurunegala Cathedral on 5th May 2010.  Sanath is serving in Talawa in the Anuradhapura area.  Unfortunately, Ruth's job is about120 miles away in Yatiyantota.  Sandamali and Anuruddha's jobs are also far apart - but Sandamali is nevertheless doing the three hour commute everyday.

Wesley, Padma, Kituni and Daniel were the first family at TCL that we really got to know largely because Daniel is  disabled and Rosemary provided a refreshingly understanding ear and helping hand.  Wesley, a Methodist (of course) left TCL in 2006 and has spent his ministry in Anuradhapura in a new church.  He considers Daniel to be a blessing who has enriched his own ministry which has included helping others with disabled children. (They came to see us to say goodbye on May 7th 2010, together with a  orphaned teenager who they are fostering)

Shehan, Champika and Shalomi were near neighbours of ours for two years at TCL during which time Shalomi was born.  Shehan, a Baptist, now ministers in Kekirawa and lives in an old manse in a large church compound.  The family left TCL in 2009.  (8th May 2010)

We visited Suji, Chrishanthi, Henosha and Chrishanthi's Grandma Sironmany  in the house in Trincomalee on 10th May 2010.  Suji was a BD student of Rosemary's in 2007and 2008..

Here is Rosemary photographed with her youngest god-daughter, Henosha on the same day.  Monday May 10th 2010
