| Together with visitors from England, Neil and Karen Drayton and local friend, Jenny, we went to the Uda Walawe National Park in the South. There was plenty of water in the reservoir around which the park was created to protect the catchment area. |
There were lots of these. |

Sinharaja Rainforest Reserve is a unique environment in Sri Lanka with many species only found within it. We were very fortunate to be there under an overcast sky that never yielded rain. It was almost cool! Here is a Green Pit Viper hanging over a small rock pool waiting for a frog to hop by. |
There were plenty of fly-catcher plants. |

The Sri Lanka Blue Magpie is an endangered endemic bird that is supposed to be rather shy. However, the pair we found we very friendly and camera conscious. They gave us all their best profiles but we found it hard to get a good picture in the gloomy forest. |
We were very pleased to be with Karen and Neil Drayton who visited Sri Lanka to see us. Here they are pictured near Negombo on their last night in Sri Lanka: Wednesday February 3rd 2010 |
