Gathering of Mission Partners in Nuwara Eliya November 16th to 18th 2007

We  had our times of prayer and sharing at the beautiful old colonial bungalow, Petworth, which was left in trust for "Missionaries from Britain and Ireland" to use for rest and relaxation.  Twenty  years ago the deeds were changed so that any clergy who are members of the NCC ( National Christian Council ) could use it if they need to recuperate.

Unusually for Nuwara Eliya the weather was PERFECT!

We had lovely picnic lunch outside in the gardens of Petworth.

After lunch some of us climbed Single Tree Mountain. Pictured here are Matt Baker (behind), Rosemary, Rebecca Baker, Paul Watson, Anna (a friend of the Bakers) and Becky Hollis. Photo taken by James.  Sunset over Lake Gregory on Saturday evening.
On Sunday morning the Reverend Becky Hollis made history and became the first women to celebrate Holy Communion in Holy Trinity Church, Nuwara Eliya. Becky is a CMS Mission Partner serving in Colombo.  On the way home to Kandy we stop to buy fresh vegetables from a road side stall. Nuwara Eliya is famous for its fruit and vegetables, as well as tea.  James has discovered that it is possible to roll down the hill for 19 km!
