| Two churches in the Moratuwa Circuit south of Colombo hosted this year's Methodist Conference. The British representative to conference was Dr. Elizabeth Harris (Methodist Connexional Interfaith Officer until September 2007) who was kept busy by her hosts making visits around the island and giving seminars. This picture shows Elizabeth, Rosemary and the Reverend Wasana Fernando who left TCL Match 2006 and is very friendly with Rosemary at Moratamulla Methodist Church on Friday August 24th 2007 | Last year young Diharsa Medini was born during the conference. This year she celebrated her first birthday at the conference. Here she is pictured with her mother the Reverend Thamara on her first birthday at Moratamulla Methodist Church, Friday August 24th 2007 |

A week later there was another conference. This conference, organised by TCL and a Methodist Organisation called Deaf Link, was called "Images" and aimed to encourage those who worked with disabled people. Awareness of the problems of disability and the issues involved in caring for those with disabilities is increasing in Sri Lanka. However, there is still much to do. The conference was sponsored by the Canadian charity Christian Horizons. The picture shows a small workshop in the grounds of the conference centre. The Conference was also translated into Sign Language. |
