A Visit to Hyderabad, India, 12-17 October 2007 with a TCL Student, Manjuka, to attend a Women's Inter-Faith Conference at  the Henry Martyn Institute:

Hyderabad is a predominantly Islamic town but in the middle of the lake, Hussain Sagar Lake or Tank Bund,  the town has erected a large Lord Buddha statue. This is seen as a neutral religious symbol, and  is accepted as a compromise by both Hindus and Muslims.

The Conference began with the traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony.

Here the participants are gathered outside the Inter Faith worship area at the Henry Martyn Institute in Hyderabad. Rosemary presenting her paper on Sunday October 14th   at the Conference held at the Henry Martyn Institute in Hyderabad.

Here is the Charminar, which was erected in 1591 CE when the foundations of the city were being laid. There are 4 minarets, and 4 arches which face north, south, east and west.

All 3-wheelers  are yellow and the traffic so much  busier than even Colombo. Shopping Indian style, i.e. sitting on the shop floor,  for Sharlwarz.
