| Hyderabad is a predominantly Islamic town but in the middle of the lake, Hussain Sagar Lake or Tank Bund, the town has erected a large Lord Buddha statue. This is seen as a neutral religious symbol, and is accepted as a compromise by both Hindus and Muslims. |
The Conference began with the traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony. |
