James's final weeks in Sri Lanka, mostly at TCL, June to August 2nd 2010

They have now entered their 4th and final year at TCL.

It was a very gradual down-sizing. Rosemary left Sri Lanka on June 16th. First the furniture went on June 28th ahead of the arrival of Rosemary's successor in the New Testament Dept., Rev. Dr. Arul Dhas from the Christian Medical Centre, Vellore, India. Here Kandiah and Roshan load up Mr. Premarathne's little lorry.	Then James sold the Nissan Serena. This was an extremely reliable vehicle. The price he sold it for was not much lower than the price it was bought for 8 years ago - ignoring inflation, of course. The tax system has for many years enabled second hand vehicles to keep their value but taxing new vehicles very heavily. Unfortunately, the tax regime had been relaxed a month or so before the sale so everyone was talking down the prices. But now that the MPs in parliament have bought their expensive 4 x 4s then maybe the tax rules will change back! Here we see Christy, the College driver and good friend to us, with our vehicle which has travelled far and wide across Sri Lanka.

Then the shipping went in 63 boxes leaving the house very bare. Thursday July 8th 2010	Here we see the new College Administrator, Mr.Peiris, with Jerome, the Principal, at Mr. P's desk which now boasts a new computer terminal. The new office network is part of an IT upgrade - funded mainly by Evangelisches Missionswerk (EMW) and the Methodist Church in Britain. It uses desk virtualization technology which should save the college energy and maintenance costs.

Board of Governors AGM - Tuesday July 27th 2010 held in the CHDC (Church History Documentation Centre) at TCL. This meeting approved the Policy File that James had prepared on the Board's behalf.	James arriving at Heathrow - Monday evening August 2nd 2010
