We went to Colombo for the weekend, mainly to see some former TCL  students and TCL staff.  We visited Reverend Wasana Fernando at her manse in Korukawella, Moratuwa,  where she has been the Methodist minister for three years.  She was ordained as a Presbyter in the Methodist Church on 14th November 2009.

We were invited to the island so that Rosemary could encourage young women students at TCL.  It is particularly pleasing to see former women students practising their ministry as ordained clergy.

We also visited Reverend Manjuka (middle), the Anglican Deacon at St.  Michael and All Angels Church in Willorwatte, Moratuwa, where she has been for about a year.  Rosemary went to a conference in Hyderabad in India with Manjuka in October 2007. We attended Manjuka's ordination to the diaconate in December 2008 but will probably not be here for her ordination to the priesthood.

We were unable to view the interior of the Catholic Cathedral Church of Santa Lucia in the old Colombo suburb of Kotahena because it was closed.  This is the biggest church in Sri Lanka.  No prizes for guessing where the architect got his inspiration.

Up the road in Kotahena another former TCL employee, Florida, has settled into married life with Richardson. We visited them in their home on the Sunday.  They were married in September 2008 and, as is very common here, wasted no time in having their first baby, Nehan Timothy, born a year later.
